4 DIY Sugar Scrubs To Get Rid Of Chapped Lips

It’s that time of the year again when cold breeze starts blowing, cardigans come out and chapped lips make their dreaded appearance. For the latter, we’ve got two solutions. Either you put away your matte lippies for the next few months or you scrub away the chapped skin. Since option 1 isn’t going to happen (who are you kidding – you love your matte lipsticks!), here are 4 sugar scrubs to whip up and drive away chapped lips.

The simple scrub

In a bowl, combine 3 tablespoons of granulated sugar with 1 tablespoon of almond oil and 2 drops of vanilla essence. Mix well with a spoon and store in a glass jar in the refrigerator. With the added benefit of a nourishing base of almond oil, this scrub is quick and easy to use in 5 minutes flat.

The cookie scrub

Mix together 2 tablespoons of brown sugar with 1 tablespoon of sea salt in a bowl. To it, add half a teaspoon of almond extract, half a teaspoon of vanilla extract and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Combine well and store refrigerated in a glass jar. This scrub will smell like cookies that are straight out of the oven while the sugar and salt mix will gently slough away dead skin.

The lavender scrub

To 3 tablespoons of granulated white sugar, add 1 tablespoon of coconut oil and 3 – 4 drops of lavender essential oil. Mix well, store refrigerated and use when needed. Not only is lavender an incredibly calming fragrance, it’s also an anti-bacterial agent which helps drive away fungus.

The chai scrub

In a mixer, blend together 2 cardamom pods, 2 cloves and 2 black peppercorns until coarse and powdery. Add 3 tablespoons of coconut oil and 2 teaspoons of granulated white sugar to it in a bowl. Finally, add 1 teaspoon of tea powder to this and mix all of it together thoroughly. For the chai lovers, this will smell like paradise while its powerful ingredients gently scrub away the dead skin and provide nourishment.
